The Night Before
Some news. Sounds like we’re third in line for surgery tomorrow, which means we could be going in as late as three or even four – and he can have nothing by mouth after midnight. The kid is like me – he’s a monster without food. Uggggghhhhh. Well, you do what you gotta do, no?
Had a big talk with the doctor in charge of physical and occupational therapy. He spent a long time with us, showed me a new way to stretch Lincoln, talked about a new night brace. Lot’s of things we’ve never thought of. But most exciting of all, they do ‘Constraint Induced Movement Therapy’, and even better they have a ten-day CI camp over the summer that I’ve already signed Lincoln up for. Can you imagine a bunch of hemiplegic kids spending all day with their good hands strapped down? Playing games and going through their day using only their affected/weaker hands? Sounds like hell, right? But it could bring about amazing rebmnmnmnmnsults Mbmb (this last bit of writing here is from Miles, our adorable, new little roommate. I think he’s two. He’s gorgeous.)
Lincoln is having his leads taken off now. It hurts him a bit and it smells really bad, he’s very sensitive to smells. I’ll put the picture up soon. He’s free! Now to try to get the glue off his head then into the communal shower. Andy's off to get him a Carl's cheese steak and white broccoli pizza as his last BIG meal.
He is no doubt, the toughest man in town....
ReplyDeleteIf that's all the champ asks for after this ordeal, hell, we'll buy him the whole finking restaurant!! Anything to get you three back home with us!
