Heeeeeerrreeees Mommy!

So I’m here at NYU with Lincoln now.  Changing of the guard.  Andy is taking the train home.  We saw each other for all of ten minutes, if that.
I see my work is cut out for me here.  Feel like Nanny McPhee or the Super Nanny.  This is what I found when I walked in the room (He's staring at Sponge Bob. No criticism toward Andy here  - Lincoln considers this his vacation).  Things are going to change, cowboy!  There’s a new sheriff in town.  (What other clichés can I cram into this short little post?)  No way is this kid going to watch TV all day, drink soda, hand crammed down his pj pants like Al Bundy.  No way, my friend. Yes, he had a seizure today and he’s usually wiped out for the rest of the day, so I’ll cut him some slack…but just for tonight.  Tomorrow it’s push-ups, pull-ups and quantum physics and Tolstoy.  Amen.  Easter… a day of new beginnings.  Perfect.

This is a picture of the blanket that Lincoln’s teachers, aid/assistant, and therapists made for him.  In the center is a heart with his name in it, and surrounding that are the tracings of each person’s hands with their signatures.  So when our boy lies under this blanket he will be hugged by the beautiful people who support him everyday at school.  In essence it’s a prayer for our boy every time he lies under it.  Healing Touch.  Love.   They also put together a wonderful, very smart care package for Andy and I (and Lincoln too).  They knew that during the surgery Andy and I will be tied to the waiting room and they knew we would need sustenance and distractions.  The bag is filled with wonderful goodies. These men and women are, without question, an extension of our family.  They are beautiful and we love them all so much.  I took a picture of all of them but it came out very blurry and it’s at home.  Eventually I’ll get their mugs up here.

(Okay - I really can't be a task master here in the hospital...I'd like to....but the kid will be attached to the wall until his surgery...I'm torn, let him chill? - or work him?...everything in moderation, I suppose..hey! I know, let's let the viewers decide...)

  4. CHILL FOR SURE. He will have more than his work cutout for him after surgery, so while you can, all of you take a breather. In the words of our dear massage therapist "BREATH DAMIT!!!!" We love you MONICA.

  6. Well, I think from that tally it's unanimous - work him hard it is! Onto the stairs, algebra followed by precalc then calc, rock climbing then mensa training. You, the audience decided.
