Quick Trip to the Lake Today

March 2010

First let us wish you a Happy Beltane.
(May Day celebrations go back hundreds of years in agricultural societies. Beltane, celebrated on May 1, is one of the fire festivals, and is a day of flowers, fertility, dancing, bonfires and general merrymaking. (source ?)) We will be celebrating with tofu pups, smores and homemade wine from Arthuro Thormani.
This is his left hand.

These first pictures are from March.  I remember thinking that I wanted some pictures of him prior to the surgery.  His smile was bigger and more symetrical, and he had more use of his left hand and arm.  Now he looks just like "Bob" in the mirror box video from yesterday's post.

This is today at the lake.  They're both eating.

Lincoln had been dying to get to the lake since he arrived home, so we took him today.  He spent only a few minutes and then wanted to go home.  Usually we can't get him and his sister to leave.  He seemed lost, like he didn't know what to do with himself.  In the past he would play in the sand with Eva, or look for fish and frogs.   I made him a bed which he tried to sleep in.  When we finally did come home, he fell right asleep on the couch.  He's still not 100%, I suppose it's going to take a long time.

Look who we saw soaking up the sun at the lake.

  1. So happy you are all home and together!!
Enjoy the beautiful sunny weekend at the lake or sleeping, doesn't really matter as long as you are all there with each other taking it all in!
Thinking of all of you, always.

  2. Your ideas are RIGHT ON. Introduce him slowly to the things he loved so much before 04/07/2010. Let his brain heal (and yes it will take time both figuratively and literally) but as he heals his mind will again ingest all the things he loved and so many new and wonderful adventures. THE LAKE is the most serene and pristine place on the earth and in time he will come to love and value going there as much as he did in the past. TIME WILL HEAL!
